What brought you to Baltimore? I came to Baltimore for work. I interned at the Baltimore Sun as a University of Maryland student, but didn’t spend much time in the city outside the confines of the newsroom and random courthouses. I’ve lived here for several years now, in apartments in two different neighborhoods with a rotating cast of roommates.

What do you like about Baltimore? Baltimore is decidedly unpretentious. No one really cares where you work or who you know, and no one wants a drink to cost more than it should. The people in Baltimore are engaged, weird, funny, stubborn, and charming.

New Baltimoreans should definitely check out: The Book Thing: I visit The Book Thing more than I should. It’s the selfless endeavor of Russell Wattenberg, who “puts unwanted books into the hands of those who want them.” You can usually spot him strolling through the aisles, making sure everyone is “being greedy.” This place is warm and fuzzy.
